Ponytail Memories

Image
For the first time ever, I was able to put my baby girl's hair into a ponytail this week. It was amazing for a lot of different reasons. First, I was suprised that I was even able to physically do it. I have never been able to do other people's hair. Usually, it's all I can do to do something with my hair. Blowing and styling my short hair was someting that was very difficult for me, which is one reason that I decided to start growing out my hair again. I am currently on a blow-dryer strike. I have not blow-dried my hair since school got out. One reason is that it helps the environment. Another reason is that it helps me not be sweaty while getting ready. A third reason is that my hair probably looks just as good, if not better. A fourth reason is that I just really hate blow-drying my hair. So, in all actuality, this blow-drying strike was not much of a sacrifice for me at all. Anyways, I put Lou Lou's hair into a ponytail and it was too cute for words. It made me star...

Blogging just got easier...

It's really not excusable how horrible I've been at updating the blog. I will attempt to blame my dinosaur of a desktop computer. It would take seemingly forever to upload pictures and videos. But, we have saved up and purchased a new laptop computer. So, no more excuses! I vow to be better and bring you the oh-so-exciting happenings of the Sharp family on a much regular basis! Okay, I was kind of hoping for some applause there, but oh well. I thought the summer would find the Sharp family in this blissfully relaxed state, but that has not turned out to be the case at all. I have found that with two children, nothing really can be considered relaxing any more. For example, as I sit here writing this post, I am simulaneously drinking coffee, icing my knee, and reading Bres Dr. Seuss's ABC book (for the third time). It helps that he knows the whole thing by heart, but still. But we are home, which has been somewhat of a rare occurrence this summer. We have been on t...

Okay, check this out. Colby and I went to Flushing on Saturday morning to run in the Flushing Township 5K/Half-Marathon. Colby ran the 5K and set a new personal best! He even placed 2nd in his age group! I was so proud of him. I ran the half marathon and also set a new personal best. I surprised myself! My goal was to be under an hour and 50 minutes! I crossed the finish line in under 1:36! I ran at a 7:18/mile pace for the whole race! I was SO proud of myself! I felt amazingly good the rest of the weekend. On Sunday night, our dear friends the Gastons came over for dinner and just to relax for a bit. The kids really began to warm up to one another and it was great fun. Avah even ended up in Breslin's pajamas! We grilled chicken, even though it was snowing...and we had ice cream, even though it was snowing...yea for spring break! Boo to snow on spring break. Dharia Lou and Benn Gaston hanging out and having fun! Avah admiring Breslin's studliness as he counts to ...

Dharia Laughing

This video takes place at the Roberts' household last week when I visited my college roommate, Jessica, and her new baby Khalan. I also got to hang out with the rest of the Roberts clan, who cooked an amazing dinner and provided cheap entertainment for my daughter. Check it out.
