Day 185 -- Kamping Kabin

Tomorrow I have an Olympic distance triathlon in South Haven -- the South Beach Triathlon.  Sounds warm and sunny and reminiscent of a day in California, right?  Well, today when I went to pre-register it was about 62 and cloudy at the beach, with Lake Michigan so choppy they couldn't set the buoys out for the swim yet.  I hope tomorrow is nicer, because right now I'm a little terrified of what I have gotten myself into.  I hardly ever got to the day-before registration opportunities for triathlons, and I didn't think this one would be any different, but Colby and I on a whim decided to make a little family vacation out of it.  We Googled some campgrounds near South Haven because we thought it might be easier on the kids to stay overnight, since we needed to be at the race very early Saturday morning.  What did we discover? KOA Kamping Kabins!  We immediately booked one and packed up.  We have a 2 room Kamping Kabin with a double bed in one room and 2 sets of bunk beds in the other.  So far, it has been absolute bliss for both us and the kids.  Okay, it does drive me a little crazy that the use a "K" for absolutely everything here.  But other than that--bliss.  They have been playing on the playground, jumping in the bounce house (that's right, I said bounce house...this KOA has one), and just plain running around and being outside like kids should be.  Tonight we made a fire, toasted marshmallows and watched them play tag, do a lot of falling down, kick a beach ball, and laugh like crazy.  To top it all off, my dad decided to come meet us here, so we got to all hang out together.  You should have seen their faces when they saw their grandpa come walking up.  Priceless.  I feel so blessed that I was able to have so much fun because of a last-minute decision.  I am so grateful to spend these moments with my kids and that my dad is here to share them with us too.  It has made what could have been a long day at a triathlon away from my family a precious memory to last forever.
I guess we'd have to call these Kamping chairs too, since we're at KOA.

Seriously, did Colby pack white pajamas for AJ?

Breslin and his marshmallow stick.  Of course, he didn't actually want to roast it, just eat it off the stick.

Grandpa and Bres swinging it up.

Girls on the porch swing!

Thank God for our Kamping Kabin!

Lord, thank you for guiding us to our stay at the KOA and for the blast of a time we have had so far during our stay.  Thank you for the memories made.  I pray that you would give us a restful night and bless our day tomorrow.  Please help me to have a good race and for the kids to enjoy their time with their dad and grandpa at the beach.  If there's any way you could arrange it for us to stay tomorrow night as well, I would really appreciate that too.  In your name I pray, Amen.
