Day 184 -- Man from City of Albion
There was a series of pretty intense storms here yesterday afternoon. About 3 pm, I watched as a huge branch fell from our tree by the road came crashing down into our front yard. It was especially spooky because our house only sits about 15 ft from the road, so it was close. Down Linden Ave, trees were down everywhere. Across from all of the front yards of the houses on our street is a river, so when trees fall, they usually take out power lines with them. So, needless to say, we were without power most of the day yesterday and were unable to get up and down our street by vehicle because of the crews working to restore it. I was thankful that no damage was done to our house, but stressed about the branch. It literally took up the entire front yard. We couldn't move it by ourselves and we don't have a chainsaw, so for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how we were going to get rid of it.
Today, as I was frantically trying to get the house clean while the kids were at daycare, I looked out the window to see a man in a City of Albion truck stop in front of our house. He took a chainsaw out of his truck, quickly cut the branch into pieces and left our front yard empty and clean. As far as I know, it's not the job of the city of Albion to take care of tree damage in private residential yards. It wasn't blocking the road or caught on any power lines. Maybe he just noticed it and decided to be nice, I don't know. But, I do know that he accomplished in a few short minutes what would have taken a lot of stress, effort, and headache for us to undertake. For that, I am so grateful!
Thank God for the man from the City of Albion!
Lord, thank you for the man from the city of Albion who helped us with our branch today. Thank you for always looking out for us. In your name I pray, Amen.
