Day 188 -- Good Reads
I love reading. Ever since the days of Book It! at Pizza Hut, I have enjoyed picking out a book and reading it through. I always did the summer reading programs at the Jackson Public Library too. I vividly remember taking in my log sheets and picking out prizes from the giant treasure chest on the second floor of the Carnegie Branch. This week I was psyched to find out that the Albion Public Library has a summer reading program for adults. I hope the prizes are a little better.
Anyhoo, Colby has been going on and on about this website http://www.goodreads.com/. I didn't know much about it, but today I signed up for an account and I love it. I still don't know all of the ins and outs of the website, but so far, I have discovered that I can make a list of all the books I have read, so that I can keep track. I am embarrassed to say that on more than one occasion I have checked out a book from the library, only to bring it home, open it up and realize that I have read it before. I can also make a list of books that I'd like to read. This is great, because once I get done with a book, I have completely forgotten which ones I wanted to read next. Any one that you make a "friend" on Good Reads can give you book recommendations too or read the reviews of the books you have read.
I am sure there are lots of other benefits of being a member of Good Reads, but tonight I am thankful that there is a website that will be so useful to pursuing this passion of mine.
If you're interested in creating a Good Reads account, I'd love to share some of my favorite books with you and learn what yours are too!
Thank God for Good Reads!
Dear Lord, thank you for Good Reads, and for the joy of reading good books. Thank you for helpful tools like this website that make it easier to enjoy this hobby. In your name I pray, Amen.
