Day 438 -- The Toy House

My uncle Mark surprised my kids with gift certificates to The Toy House in Jackson for no reason this weekend.  Aren't those the best kind of gifts, really?

Well, they were so excited to get their gift certificates that we had to make a trip in to town today to let them pick out what they wanted to buy.  They were hilarious running around this most amazing of stores.

They all finally settled on a toy.  To be fair, it didn't take Breslin long, and as soon as he found what he wanted, the girls just wanted what he had:

ALPHABEASTS!  These soft, fuzzy plush monsters are boldly embroidered with a capital letter on one side, and a lower case letter on the other.  There are 26 alphabeasts in all, each with its own characteristic letter and personality.

Breslin already has "Alphie", because Santa apparently knew that a stuffed animal with an "A" on it would be something he would cherish.  When he saw that there was not just Alphie, but colorful monsters of all shapes and colors, each with their own unique letter of the alphabet...well, you can imagine that elated may not be a strong enough term for what he was feeling.

Breslin grabbed up "Boogeyfus" , while Dharia was happy to take the "D" monster, whose name is "Dadildoit".  AJ wasn't too picky about the Alphabeast she took home, but we eventually convinced her to take "Juno".  After she sneezed on him in the store, it wasn't really an option anymore.

It was incredibly fun to watch them go through the process of shopping and buying their toy.  I was thankful to have a chance to be with them and for my uncle, who was so kind as so surprise them all with this awesome gift.  I was also grateful to have such a cool store so close for my kids to enjoy..

Thank God for the Toy House!

Lord, thank you for a chance to shop at the Toy House today.  Thank you for my uncle, who made it all possible.  Thank you for my kids and their contagious enthusiasm and infectious happiness.  Thank you for our new Alphabeasts and the joy they bring to our family.  In your name I pray, Amen.
