Day 612 -- The Hot 'N Ready Pizza

Tonight we pulled up to the Little Caesar's in Marshall, Michigan and taught our three intently listening children two very important things about how pizza has changed from when we were children:

1) You can get it for $5.

2) You can get it in a drive-thru.

I am horrifyingly nostalgic when I begin to think about the huge role the Hot 'N Ready Pizza has played in our lives.  Colby and I pretty much lived on them during our first year of marriage at Alma, stopping by the local Little Caesar's once, maybe twice, a day. We have had them at the Sharp's house more times than I could even fathom.  We buy them for roughly half of the birthday parties we throw (which is a lot...we have a lot of kids).  We get them 2/3 of the time we don't feel like cooking or don't have anything in the the fridge to whip up.  The list goes on.  And on.

It's hard to imagine how a pizza could cost only $5, but we are thrilled beyond what is probably reasonable to be able to buy an entire meal "out" for our family at under $7.50 (can't forget the Crazy Bread, after all).  Some people question the quality of the pies you receive when you go the Hot 'N Ready route, but we have no qualms whatsoever.  When it comes to pizza, we can eat almost anything (one exception: Pizza Hotline in Jackson, for some reason -- ick).

Tonight -- our last "official" night of summer (Colby and I both head back to school tomorrow)--we got ourselves a Hot 'N Ready, went to Ketchum Park to play, and rounded it out with a stop for ice cream on the way home.  It was a perfect night, albeit hot and muggy, to spend together doing what we love to do -- namely eat pizza and play.  It was a great way to wrap up the season, and I'm not surprised at all that the Hot 'N Ready made its characteristic appearance.

Thank God for the Hot 'N Ready Pizza!

Lord, thank you for a cheap, good meal.  Thank you for time together tonight.  Help us to get off to a great start tomorrow.  In your name I pray, Amen.
