Day 752 -- The Big 4-0

Colby and I spent the entire day and evening snowboarding at Nub's Nob in Harbor Springs, Michigan.  Our Christmas present to each other was to stay overnight in a little condo on the slopes, where we could literally walk out the back door and onto a chair lift.  It's been a wonderful day on the slopes.  Colby and I went down every run we could find and took a break every once in a while to sit by the fire in our condo and have a snack.

The Big 4-0 is one of our favorite runs on the mountain.  It is fast and curvy and interesting.  But, is is also the first run that we truly conquered on our boards for the first time several years ago, so it has special sentimental value.  I love that snowboarding is something that Colby and I genuinely share as a hobby.  From the very first time we strapped on our bindings to today, neither one of us has ever been snowboarding without the other person.  We learned together, improved together, and learned to love it together.  It's something that is neither his nor mine; it's genuinely ours.

Today we had quality time together as we rode the long lifts to the top of the hill, carved up the slush on the way down (the snow didn't hold up too well in the 50 degree heat wave) and compared our runs on the way back up, holding hands.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to be together doing something we both love.

Thank God for the Big 4-0!

Lord, thank you for all of the quality time I got to spend with my husband today.  Thank you for a hobby that we can enjoy together.  In your name I pray, Amen.
