Can you tell we're related?

Image
So I took this picture of Dharia yesterday and I thought to myself, "Do I already have a picture of her that looks exactly like this?" It turned out that the picture I was thinking of was really of Breslin. They just look a LOT alike. Both of these pictures are of the kids at almost 4 months. Oh man! They are/were definitely both cross-eyed.

Naked Baby!

Rub a Dub Dub! Lou Lou in the Tub! Oh, so cute...until I tell you that the reason she was even in the tub to begin with was because she had so much poo on her it actually necessitated a bath. It is really something to say that you have your own poo on your own shoulder. Yuck. Still waiting for that snow day. Here are some things I've heard you can do to conjure one: 1) Light a white candle. 1a) Light a white candle and dance around it naked. 2) Lay out four spoons. 3) Flush your toilet three times. So far, I have not found any of these methods to be a guaranteed snow day. What are some snow day myths that you have heard? I'm willing to try anything at this point. :)

The November Blahs

Last night I prayed for a snow day. I did not receive an answer to my prayer. But the good news is that there is a decaying Meleagrididae meleagris in my freezer. That's a dead turkey in layman's terms. A dead turkey in my freezer can only mean one thing... OH DEAR! I'M COOKING THANKSGIVING DINNER! Just for the record, I buy dead turkeys that are pre-gutted and pre-cleaned. I would say it was nearly fool-proof if I wasn't worried about jinxing myself and the poor souls destined to dine at my house next Thursday. I sincerely hope your final week before Thanksgiving goes more smoothly and quickly than mine is. This morning I went outside (at the normal time, because there was no delay or cancellation) and my van's doors were frozen shut. All of them. In my arms was a nearly-two year-old boy who was protesting the fact that I had put a hat on his head and a coat on his body. While he was writhing around and screaming, I was attempting to open the doors sealed in ice. I...

Halloween Videos

We got some family pictures taken of the Sharps for their mom's 50th birthday this month. We hauled everyone off to the park on a beautiful fall day.The pictures turned out great. Have a look! A big thanks to April Montague for taking these amazing pictures. We took the kids to the Binder Park Zoo Boo last week before Halloween. It was such a cool thing! The zoo doesn't have a lot of animals out, but they decorate like crazy. There's a hayride and a trick-or-treat trail too. By the way...Breslin is a FROG PRINCE, not a weird alien king or anything like that. I made his costume and I realize that it may not be obvious what it is just by looking at it. We went to the Zoo Boo with another couple with a little boy Breslin's age who was a cowboy. The people at the zoo kept saying, "(looking at Gavin) Awwww, look at the cute cowboy! ...(then looking at Breslin)Oh, he's cute too! (with a confused look on their faces)..." Breslin didn't seem to mind at all...

Pumpkins!

Image
Our very own little chubby pumpkin. :) This evening we carved pumpkins. Oh, how things can change in a year! Last year, Colby and I peacefully cleaned and carved our pumpkins while Breslin slept. This year, we attempted to clean and carve while Breslin intensely checked out the goings-on. This included dumping out our bag of "pumpkin guts", sifting through the slimy pumpkin seeds (we save them to bake after we're done carving), and trying his darndest to grab the carving knives when we weren't looking. When I finished carving his pumpkin, Bres was able to point out where the pumpkins eyes, ears, and nose were. He kept pointing to the top and saying "hair", so I think we still need to work on that one. I think the end result turned out pretty well, considering. Our own little pumpkin family is now happily lighting up our tiny front porch.

Frog in the House and Smiles from Dharia

Image
Happy Girl! Dharia is starting to show her personality to us. She's all smiles after she's eaten. And big, big news...she is sleeping through the night! Yeah! Go girl! You rock and I love you! Tonight while Colby was vacumming, I let out a big scream because I saw what I thought was a HUGE spider on our wall. It turned out not to be a spider, but a little frog the size of a thumbnail. It had climbed up the wall and was finding safety from the vacuum. Bres was fascinated and had a grand old time chasing the poor thing all over our house.
