Attack of the Killer...Clementines?

Ah, spring break. Time to get serious. My daughter was given a pedicure this weekend too. It really helped her take the stress off. Thanks, Nana!

What Fun!

Okay, check this out. Colby and I went to Flushing on Saturday morning to run in the Flushing Township 5K/Half-Marathon. Colby ran the 5K and set a new personal best! He even placed 2nd in his age group! I was so proud of him. I ran the half marathon and also set a new personal best. I surprised myself! My goal was to be under an hour and 50 minutes! I crossed the finish line in under 1:36! I ran at a 7:18/mile pace for the whole race! I was SO proud of myself! I felt amazingly good the rest of the weekend. On Sunday night, our dear friends the Gastons came over for dinner and just to relax for a bit. The kids really began to warm up to one another and it was great fun. Avah even ended up in Breslin's pajamas! We grilled chicken, even though it was snowing...and we had ice cream, even though it was snowing...yea for spring break! Boo to snow on spring break. Dharia Lou and Benn Gaston hanging out and having fun! Avah admiring Breslin's studliness as he counts to ...

Dharia Laughing

This video takes place at the Roberts' household last week when I visited my college roommate, Jessica, and her new baby Khalan. I also got to hang out with the rest of the Roberts clan, who cooked an amazing dinner and provided cheap entertainment for my daughter. Check it out.

4 More Days...Count 'Em...FOUR!

Can you tell I'm looking forward to Spring Break? Okay, so lots of good stories lately. First, last weekend was the big "Hello Spring, Goodbye Yeti" 5K run in beautiful downtown Parma. My mom and Bob came down to run too. All of the proceeds went to the Western track and cross-country teams. Since I am slated to be the assistnant cross-country coach next year, it seemed natural that I support the race. Well, I've been running a lot lately, and I wanted to see how fast I could run the race right now. I decided to push myself. My goal was to be under 23 minutes. I ran a 20:51! I was so excited! I even got my picture onto the front of the West County Press! Colby's goal was to run under 24 minutes. He obliterated that with running a 23:14. My mom and Bob both got first in their age groups, too! It was a lot of fun. Breslin had been sick at the beginning of this week. The poor guy had a super high fever and wouldn't eat anything (very unusual for any member of t...

A Watering Can for Breslin

Image
Let me start by saying that I love Target. I could spend several hours there without any trouble. Colby and Breslin, on the other hand, could probably do without spending several hours in Target. We went to Target to buy Lou Lou some new clothes. I was politely told by my daycare provider that she would be needing some bigger spare clothes soon. So, I picked out a few things for her, which quickly turned into a cartload of things. Before I knew what was happening, I was picking out things for Breslin and myself too! I was almost done shopping, and the kids had been extra-amazingly good. There were no meltdowns, no diaper blowouts...everything was going great. I just wanted to look in the beauty aisles and then go. While I am looking, I hear Breslin exclaim, "Pig!" and then snort a couple of times for emphasis. He had found a watering can on one of the end-caps in the shape of a pig and had picked it up off of the shelf. He looked so cute carrying it around by its little han...

2 Cold Days

Image
We've had a couple of cold days here. Now, don't get me wrong. Unlike a lot of people, I don't mind the extreme cold because it means that it's too cold to go to school. When the temperature drops below a certain point, school is cancelled. And that's exactly what happened the past two days. In order to get some quality time outside of the house, I took Bres and Dharia to Kids 'N Stuff, and interactive kids museum that's a five minute walk from our house. We didn't walk, of course, but we did bundle up and drive over. We spent the morning hours playing with the giant train table, the water table, the art station (painting, crayons. gluing, play-do, etc.), and climbing on all kinds of stuff. For any parents with children of the ages 15 months-6, if you're anywhere close to the Albion area, I would highly recommend checking it out. If your kids like it, you can buy a family membership for only $50. It's good for the whole year and you can come as m...

Breslin Goes 7 for 8...

Besides continuing to work on our letters this week, we've been getting back into the swing of things in terms of school and daycare. Monday was rough. A suprise snow day on Wednesday, however, made the week a little more bearable. I started officiating some gymnastics this week, too. I want to use the extra money to buy lots of stuff from IKEA. :) Colby and I did great running this week. We both ran in the crazy deep snow on both days this weekend. Saturday we even ran in the dark so that we could both get it done before I had to leave for the meet in East Lansing. I judged vault at the invitational. First place was a score of 9.775! It was really fun to watch. Dharia Lou is starting to cut some teeth. I can feel FOUR under her little sore gums. Poor girl. She is such a sweetie, though...not too fussy, but you can tell she's feeling it. Another one of my new year's resolutions was to read at least two books to each kid every day. So far we've been going strong on that ...
